the chronological de-confusizifier

one of my beloved readers wrote:
is it just me or is the chronology/overlapping getting confusing?

In response, I submit this brief explanation: the bennymay story has many, many threads—most of which relate to me asking various persons and organisations to assist/investigate and them failing/refusing. Accordingly, if I presented the bennymay story in strict, chronological order in the middle chapters my readers would be dealing with about thirty threads and unresolved plots, and I should expect they would give up and lose interest.

Though I may not have optimised stimulation in the story and interest in my readers, I chose a presentation with a compromise of chronology and topics.

So, to answer the question, no, it is not just you. The chronology and overlapping stories are confusing.
